Noise management

In noise management, AIRIA applies ICAO approved “balanced approach” concept.

Aircraft noise impact during approach and take-off procedures is modeled according to EU regulation 2002/49/CE.

We use two different software for noise contours calculation:

  • INM (“Integrated Noise Model”) developed by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It complies with the above mentioned regulations and it’s the most widely spread and used commercial model , with proven international reputation.
  • AEDT model (“Aviation Environmental Design Tool”) that dynamically models, in both space and time, aircraft fuel consumption, emissions and noise.
